Weird Al Yankovic – Hardware Store – Music Video
As part of my BA we have to create a “pop promo/music video”. For this I’ve picked Weird Al’s awesome “Hardware Store” After many long nights working on storyboards and anamatics (see my other videos) we finally had a final piece put together. Which I’m very happy to say got a rather good mark of 80. Update: I should probably point out that 80 is a VERY good mark in UK Universities, whilst it is out of 100, 70 is a 1st which is the best you can get (3rd, 2:2, 2:1, 1) so I got the best, then some. There are no swears in this song, and yes you do hear “automatic circumciser” which isn’t what you think it is. Google for the full lyrics. You may have seen some of the many “Google Image” based videos for this song. This is a live action “real” version, the only one I know of in existence too. It was created entirely from scratch, filmed, edited and post production by myself, Dave Hartly & Christian Allan. Enjoy what we’ve created, I hope you like it. Oh and finally a HUGE thank you to everyone who has watched, rated and commented on this video, its been hugely more popular than I could ever of imagined, glad you guys like it.
Hardware Heaven
On a trip to Shanghai in Sept. 2009 to install an artwork, my cohorts and I stumbled on an area along Beijing street that was a hardware geek’s paradise. I shot way too much video, and even felt compelled to sing about it later. It was that good.

Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 Software Tour Part 2
In this video we demonstrate even more software that comes standard on the Samsung Galaxy S. The Android powered phone has some unique software that allows you to created your own diary entries and save them directly to the device. The video player is capable of Divx decoding which has been rather rare for other Android devices. Video playback is clear and does not lag even on larger formats. There is a documents suite that is compatible with Microsoft Office and gives you the option to backup your documents to an online documents server. Other standard programs included are Navigation, a voice recorder, and music player. Search through all of your files with the on-board My Files application that eliminates the need to use a third party application. Tired of that old Android font? Open display settings and you can change the font to customize the device even further.

Google Tech Talks May 6, 2008 ABSTRACT When you look around, there are a lot of leaders recommended for software development. We have the functional manager and the project manager, the scrum master and the black belt, the product owner and the customer-on-site, the technical leader and the architect, the product manager and the chief engineer. Clearly that’s too many leaders. So how many leaders should there be, what should they do, what shouldn’t they do, and what skills do they need? This will be a presentation and discussion of leadership roles in software development — what works, what doesn’t and why. Speaker: Mary Poppendieck Mary Poppendieck started her career as a process control programmer, moved on to manage the IT department of a manufacturing plant, and then ended up in product development, where she was both a product champion and department manager. Mary considered retirement 1998, but instead found herself managing a government software project where she first encountered the word “waterfall.” When Mary compared her experience in successful software and product development to the prevailing opinions about how to manage software projects, she decided the time had come for a new paradigm. She wrote the award-winning book Lean Software Development: An Agile Toolkit in 2003 to explain how the lean principles from manufacturing offer a better approach to software development. Over the past six years, Mary has found retirement elusive as she lectures and …

To complete this How-To you will need: A laptop A digital television A male-to-male video cable of one of the following types: S-Video VGA 15-pin DVI DVI-to-HDMI A mini-to-RCA audio cable A PC-to-TV converter box A mini-DVI-to-VGA or mini-DVI-to-DVI adapter for Macs Step 1: Connect with S-Video First, connect a video cable — you’ve got several choices.
